10 Best Video Games of ALL Time

For some people, gaming has become a way of life, and it's a technology that's constantly evolving, getting better and better. So asking ourselves "What are the best video games EVER?" is a bit of a loaded question. It's a very tough list to compile, cramming all of the genres into one giant pool to decipher what games have truly stood the test of time. It's like asking "What is the best book ever written?"
There are no wrong answers. So obviously, this is completely subjective, and you might feel entirely different based on your own video game history. But make no mistake - every game on this list, at the time they were released, influenced the games that would follow, and they are without a doubt some of the most important games to have ever been made.

So without further ado - The 10 Best Video Games of ALL Time!
Click the video at the top of the page to watch our choices or scroll down to read about 'em, and see if your favorite video game made it to the top.
SLIDE 1/10 – 10. GOLDENEYE 007Starting off at No. 10 we’ve got Goldeneye 007 for the N64. This might be the only case in video game history where a game tied to a movie turned out better than the movie. With so many games today being played online, split screen almost seems a thing of the past. It’s easy to forget just how fun it was as a kid to sit around a TV and play a good shooter with all of your buddies, and Goldeneye might have been the best.

With today's vibrant modding scene there's actually more ways than ever to enjoy this all-time classic. Time for another gaming night with the buds like old times!
SLIDE 2/10 – 9. THE LAST OF USTo date, there is still arguably no game that is as emotionally complex as this instant classic. While the gameplay itself in The Last of Us is fantastic, it also effortlessly blended in a cinema quality story that turned it into one of the biggest hits of the last gen.Naughty Dog was already on the map with the wild success of the Uncharted series, but it was The Last of Us which proved that they were among the very best story-tellers in this medium. If this is where video games are headed, then yes please. Check this one out if you haven't yet.

SLIDE 3/10 – 8. WORLD OF WARCRAFTConsidering this MMO has been out since 2004, and millions of people are still, to this day, regularly devoting huge chunks of their life to it is a testament to how great it truly is. Seriously, name another game that has had the longevity along with the consistent, feverish popularity of World of Warcraft. For many people, its immersive world became downright addicting.
New expansions and new content is till rolling out to this day, and Blizzard has even committed to bringing back a classic "vanilla" server for those wanting to relive the glory days of WoW's launch! There's never been a better time to jump in.

SLIDE 4/10 – 7. STREET FIGHTER IIAnyone who loves a good fighting game owes Street Fighter II a big debt of gratitude. There's often an argument about which game proved to be more popular between this and Mortal Kombat, and while MK was insanely popular, it came out a year later, but also brought a lot of negative attention to video games due to its graphic violence. So we gave the nod to Street Fighter for being a lot more palatable and featured a ton of colorful fighters who are still remembered fondly to this day. In fact, Street Fighter is mainly responsible for the competitive arcade fighting scene genesis, so it deserves a spot on our list for that fact alone!

SLIDE 5/10 – 6. DOOMWhile Wolfenstein 3D might have come out first, it stayed relatively under the radar and involved little fanfare. It was the popularity and gore of DOOM that made first person shooters one of the most popular gaming genres there’s ever been. No matter what your favorite classic first person shooter is, from Call of Duty to Halo to Half Life 2 - they all might have never happened had DOOM not caught fire the way that it did.

By the way, we can't think of any other game that has received the kind of revival that DOOM did with its 2016 reboot. It's one Hell of a roller-coaster that shouldn't be missed.
SLIDE 6/10 – 5. PAC-MANThis all time classic is synonymous with the term “video games.” It’s a crime to not include it on any best of all time list. Whether you're a casual gamer needing something to idly pass the time, or a hardcore high score chaser, PAC-MAN has something for you.

I know we said that Street Fighter was largely responsible for the competitive arcade gaming scene, but anyone who was there back in the 80s and early 90s knows that the competitive PAC-MAN scene was just as lively, and almost as brutal!
SLIDE 7/10 – 4. GRAND THEFT AUTO IIIWhen Grand Theft Auto III came out, it changed everything, putting players in an open world sandbox where you could practically do anything. Like, literally anything. While the GTA franchise have continued to deliver amazing new installments with each additional game becoming better than before, none have changed the landscape of games the way this one did. Very few games have influenced modern games the way GTA III has.
Plus, who can forget the countless hours spent in front of the TV, cheat codes enabled, just wailing away on cops and causing mass hysteria with unlimited ammunition and insane weaponry?

SLIDE 8/10 – 3. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIMEAny number of Zelda games could have probably landed on this list, but it's Ocarina of Timethat seems to be most fondly remembered by fans of the series. And anyone who played it on N64 when it came out knows exactly why it’s one of the best ever. It gave us a massive open world to explore. It was filled with secrets and mysterious characters. The music was breathtaking, and the bosses were legendary.

Everyone who loves adventure games owes a debt of gratitude to Ocarina of Time, because it inspired generations of developers and artists. We still love to play this one.
SLIDE 9/10 – 2. TETRISThere’s hardly a person alive that hasn’t played Tetris since it was created in 1984, and it single-handedly put Nintendo's Gameboy on the map making it the granddaddy of all puzzle games. No other game has remained as consistently relevant as Tetris, appearing on every platform since it's inception and still a big seller today.

In fact, it's still the best seller. Look up any comprehensive list of the best-selling games of all-time, and Tetris is always in the top spot once all of the platforms are taken into consideration. We know that Minecraft is trying hard to catch up, but we doubt any game will ever out-sell Tetris.
SLIDE 10/10 – 1. SUPER MARIO BROS 3We've arrived. The GOAT of video games goes to Super Mario Bros 3. An argument could totally be made for the original Super Mario Bros, which made the pipe traveling plumber a household name. But after a disappointing sequel, Super Mario Bros 3 came along and improved upon the franchise in every conceivable way, pushing 8-bit to it’s limits, and turning Mario into the unofficial mascot of video games forever.  less

When PCs were first made available for purchase by consumers over 30 years ago, they were hefty machines that cost thousands of dollars each — the technology of the day was expensive to produce, and the cost of computers reflected that. As time went on computer manufacturing became more streamlined, technology improved, and owning a computer became much more affordable. Today, you can buy a new PC or laptop for less than $300, but you couldn’t even get a monitor for that much in the early days of the computer.
However, there are still some models that cost a ton of money either because they contain insane tech or insanely opulent features. A market has emerged in the last decade that caters to the wealthy and individuals who want highly customized PCs or computers with decorations that include precious metals and rare gems. Such PCs match or exceed the price of early computers, and some even cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Here are ten of the most expensive computers ever created.
    10. 1989 Macintosh Portable – $6,500
The laptops that started appearing in the 80s aren’t the sleek, speedy, and power packed machines that they are today, but the 1989 Macintosh Portable was still novel for its time. It had a 16MHz Motorola CPU, 1 MB of RAM that could be expanded to 9 MB, and a 40 MB hard drive. The display on this model had a resolution of 640 by 400 and was monochrome, and inside was a lead acid battery that weighed two pounds. The cost for the Macintosh Portable was $6,500 when it debuted, which amounts to $12,500 today.

    9. Voodoo Envy 171 – $6,500
When Voodoo set out to design they Envy 171, which was made available for sale in 2007, the company was focused on performance and outshining just about every other notebook manufacturer. The 17 inch widescreen display sports a Dual NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 graphics chipset. Its other impressive specs include a Core 2 Extreme CPU, 4 GB of RAM, and a 600 GB hard drive capacity that uses three different drives. Those who bought the pricey notebook also had the option to have a custom design on the back of it and could choose the color shell they preferred. The cost for the Voodoo Envy 171 was $6,500.
    8. 1983 Apple Lisa – $9,995
    4.0.1
Lisa is a 1983 relic from Apple that was significant at the time, and not simply because it was named after Steve Jobs’ daughter. It was the first PC with a mouse that was meant to be marketed to the masses, and as far as old school computers went it was super user friendly. It had a 12 inch monochrome display, 1 MB of RAM, 5MHz Motorola CPU, and buyers had the option to get a 5 MB external hard drive. The astounding thing is that even though Apple’s Lisa was for the average user, it still cost $9,995, which equals nearly $24,000 today.
    7. 1979 Cromemco System Three – $12,495
One of the key innovators in the computer world during the 70s and 80s was Cromemco, which was founded by two doctoral students at Stanford. They not only made strides in developing peripherals and graphic cards, but cameras and joysticks as well. The Cromemco System Three was released in 1979 and was a multi-user computer with one to six terminals and a printer attached to its central chassis.
The setup was great for military, government, and large operations, but it wasn’t something meant for the average Joe on the street. Still, the Cromemco System Three could run Z80 Basic and Fortran IV and had a 5 MB external hard drive and 512 KB of RAM. Its retail price was $12,495, or approximately $36,000 in today’s dollars.
    6. Yoyotech XDNA Aurum 24K – $13,000
No matter what gaming systems come out purporting to be the latest and the greatest, PC gaming is still widely popular. 3D games have changed the way that computer manufacturers develop their products, and in 2013 Yoyotech unveiled a PC capable of playing any 3D game at 4K: the DNA Aurum 24K. For the price, you get a system with amazing graphic capabilities, and it also has a sophisticated cooling system to keep everything running smoothly. Obviously, this PC was meant for serious gamers willing to shell out thirteen grand rather than casual players.
    5. 1975 IBM Portable Computer – $19,975
If you’re looking at the price and wondering what type of incredible technology existed back in the mid-70s to warrant such an expensive price tag, know that the 1975 IBM Portable Computer cost what it did because it was the first “mini computer”. It wasn’t as portable as notebooks are today, but it was aimed at the scientific community, specifically researchers flush with grant money.
The self contained computer had a magnetic tape drive, 5 inch CRT display that could output 16 lines of text with 64 characters each, a cartridge tape hard drive capable of storing 204 KB, and a PALM circuit board processor. If you adjust its 1975 retail price for inflation, the IBM 5100 portable computer would cost about $88,000.
    4. Ego for Bentley Notebook – $20,000
As many would guess, anything with the Bentley name attached to it is going to cost a bundle. This laptop, the result of a 2008 collaboration between luxury products company Ego and legendary British automaker Bentley, was made for the wealthy to flaunt their excess. It has diamond stitched Bentley leather, is hand built, and is available in a number of color options. Just 250 of these pricey pieces of tech were made available for sale.
    3. 24k Gold MacBook Pro – $30,000
A MacBook Pro by itself is awesome, but this one has an exterior covered in 24 carat gold. To top off the extravagant piece made by Computer Choppers, a bespoke high tech gadget company, the laptop also has an Apple logo encrusted with diamonds in multiple colors.
    2. Otazu Ego Diamond – $350,000
Ego’s most expensive laptop to date is shaped like a designer handbag, available in many luxe finishes, and starts at $5,000. If you want to get super fancy, go for the top of the line Otazu Ego Diamond, which contains 470 diamonds and Otazu motifs.
    1. The Luvaglio One Million Dollar Laptop – $1 million
When Luvaglio set out to create the world’s most outrageously lavish laptop, they came up with this intriguing PC. At first glance it just looks like an expensive case, but inside is a laptop with a solid state drive, MP3 player, and Blue-Ray player built in. There are also diamonds dotting the PC, including a power button encrusted in diamonds. Many have wondered whether the laptop warrants its price tag, but Luvaglio says the $1 million cost is just right.  less
